Universal Orlando to Allow Maskless Guests…If They’re Fully Vaccinated

If you live in or have ever traveled to Orlando, Florida, then you know that Universal Orlando is one of the most popular theme parks. Being one of the most prominent attractions in the city, the park took a hefty blow when the global pandemic caused it to close its doors temporarily. While the parks have since reopened with the distribution of the new COVID-19 vaccines, the park has also decided to lift its mask mandate for vaccinated guests.

After Florida governor Ron DeSantis lifted the mask mandate statewide, it left many people and businesses wondering what this meant for them. While there may be the intention that only fully vaccinated individuals will not wear a mask, how exactly do you determine this without requiring medical documentation?

Do I Need to Bring a Mask to Universal Orlando?

First, if you are not fully vaccinated, you must wear a mask throughout your stay at Universal Orlando. Additionally, even if you are fully vaccinated, you should still pack a few masks for you and your family. You will still need a mask while at the park because there are still certain areas where you must wear a mask. Some of those areas include:

  • When standing in line for any attractions
  • When entering into any of the gift shops or restaurants
  • When riding any of the rides

If you do forget to bring a mask with you to the park, there are attendants throughout the grounds that will be able to provide you with as many as you need.

Will I Be Required to Show Proof of Vaccination?

The idea that only fully vaccinated visitors will walk around without a mask is based entirely on the hope that people will morally abide by this. No visitors are required to provide proof of vaccination. With that being said, this should not be an open invitation for people who are not vaccinated to go without a mask while on the grounds. It is essential that in order to keep the parks open, we must all do our part to keep one another safe.

If No One Is Wearing Masks, Is It Safe to Go to Universal?

Despite the fact that there is not a strict mask rule at Universal Orlando, the theme park is still taking the health and safety of all visitors and staff very seriously. Other than requiring masks in areas where visitors are crowded together, the following steps are also being carried out to ensure your safety:

  • Requiring visitors to remain a six-foot distance from one another
  • Providing extra masks and hand sanitizer throughout the park
  • Ensuring that rides are appropriately disinfected and wiped down

As we all continue to adjust to the new normal, keep in mind that you should reschedule your trip to Universal Orlando if you are feeling unwell.
