Massive Undercover Human Trafficking Sting in Polk County
Polk County Sheriff’s Office revealed the results of one the largest undercover stings in the country’s history. Operation “Fool Around and Find Out” resulted in a sweeping 244 arrests made after the human trafficking operation ended. Spanning nine days, the sting took down an undercover network of people allegedly involved in various illegal activities ranging from human trafficking to online exploitation.
Charges filed during the operation include 102 felonies alongside 284 misdemeanors. Suspects had prior criminal histories, Sheriff Grady Judd emphasized, and prior histories accounted for over 400 felonies and 519 misdemeanors.
Among the high profile individuals arrested in the case, was a current executive with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief division. Another was the former NFL linebacker Adarius Taylor, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns.
On top of the arrested suspects charged with human trafficking-related offenses, 11 people were arrested for attempting to solicit minors online.
“This is the highest number of suspects we’ve ever arrested during a single undercover operation,” said Sheriff Judd.
