Dwight Howard Stays in Orlando!
Yesterday, Dwight Howard ended months of speculation by announcing that he would not become a free agent, opting instead to remain with the Orlando Magic for at least another year. The move may have disappointed fans in Dallas, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles who were hoping to see Howard on their team, but it was a thrill for Magic fans. This includes many of the lawyers at our firm — while the story has nothing to do with the law, we’re excited enough to include it on our blog!
In making his announcement, Howard said that he’d thought long and hard about leaving for another team and that “I was going back and forth,” but in the end, “I’m too loyal … that’s just who I am.” Magic executives, including CEO Alex Martins and GM Otis Smith, praised Howard’s decision.
Of course, having “Superman” staying won’t solve all the Magic’s problems. While reaffirming his loyalty, Howard has made it clear that he wants the rest of the team to get better. But keeping Howard in Orlando is a big piece of the puzzle, and Orlando fans should cheer him for making the right choice! On behalf of The Umansky Law Firm, we’re happy you’re here, so hopefully you don’t go off to the L.A. Lakers the next year, get sick of that team, and end up in Houston or something.
