Have Another Safe Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a day set aside to remember those who have lost their lives in the service of our country. To many it represents the first day of summer. Most people however, look at Memorial Day as a day off of work and school and the perfect opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
Whether you decide to spend Memorial Day at the beach, having a BBQ in the back yard, or enjoying one of the many theme parks in Orlando, remember that drinking and driving should not be a part of your celebration. This is the simplest and most effective piece of advice for a safe and happy holiday.
DUI Checkpoints Throughout The Country
During the holiday weekend, most police agencies have stepped-up their DUI enforcement. This includes in and around Central Florida. Police agencies have already posted locations for safety and DUI checkpoints for the weekend as required by law. Officers will be on the lookout for impaired driving, license violations, seat belt use and tag issues.
DUI checkpoints serve many functions. They remove impaired drivers from the road, keeping everyone safe. They encourage people not to get behind the wheel when they have been drinking because of fear of arrest. DUI checkpoints also help raise awareness about driving while impaired.
Enjoy Your Holiday
If part of your holiday celebration consists of drinking, make sure that you do not drive. Make arrangements for a ride home. Stay at one of Orlando’s fine hotels. Call a cab if necessary. Whatever you do, do not get behind the wheel, your life just may depend on that decision. Besides, no one wants to start their summer facing a DUI charge.
