The Client, a longtime business owner with no criminal history, acted in self-defense after a confrontation in a bank parking lot where one of the individuals brandished a firearm. Despite cooperating with police, he was charged with two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, each carrying a 10-year minimum mandatory sentence, and the State never offered less than 20 years in prison. Attorney conducted extensive litigation, including depositions, a Stand Your Ground hearing, and an appeal. On the eve of trial, the State agreed to dismiss both attempted murder charges and offer probation on a reduced third-degree felony with a Withhold of Adjudication, allowing the Client to avoid prison and move forward with his life.
