Client was arrested for Battery on a Pregnant Person, a third-degree felony, after an incident involving his pregnant wife. Police had severely misunderstood the situation—the wife was actually the aggressor. We called her to testify at a hearing to lift the no contact order, and her testimony convinced the State to drop all charges. This pending felony was the reason Client was being held in ICE custody, causing him to miss the birth of his child. Once we secured the dismissal, his immigration attorney was able to obtain his release so he could reunite with his family.
