This case took a long time to resolve. Client was a corrections officer at the jail who committed a battery on an inmate. Inmate was adamant about jail and the best the State would do was an Adjudication of Guilty and 12 months probation. With probation he would lose his new job. We had client do community service and anger management class early, set the case for an hour long plea to the bench hearing with witnesses. State introduced photo of victim’s injuries (neck brace, two black eyes, etc.) After plea hearing judge gave client a Withhold of Adjudication and no probation. All other conditions completed early.
