Criminal Charge Reduced to Civil Infraction — Zoo Saved

Case Number: 2023-MM-008750-A-O
County: Orange

The Client owns an exotic animal zoo and was cited for one of her enclosures using the wrong size fencing. The Client immediately replaced the fencing on that enclosure, as well as upgraded all other enclosures to a stronger gauge of fencing than required to ensure full compliance with code. If the Client had entered a plea to the original criminal charge, she would have lost her licenses and been forced to close her business. After thorough discussions with the State, the Attorney successfully convinced them to amend the criminal charge to a civil infraction, ultimately saving the Client’s zoo.
