Client was arrested for DUI in Brevard County while in the U.S. on a temporary visa. Because a DUI conviction could have severely impacted his immigration status and citizenship application, we worked with the prosecutor to review the case and identify inconsistencies and flaws in the DUI investigation. As a result, the State agreed to amend the charge to reckless driving.
We also arranged for Client to complete his plea virtually, avoiding the need to return to Florida amid an uncertain immigration climate. This outcome protected Client from deportation risk and allowed him to continue pursuing U.S. citizenship without interruption.
