Battery Strangulation and Child Abuse – Charges Dismissed and Record Expunged

Case Number: 2024-CF-008442-A-O
Charges: Batt. Strangulation/Child Abuse
County: Orange

Client was vacationing in Florida with his teenage daughter and family when a group of boys began harassing his daughter in a lazy river. One of the boys flipped Client’s tube and held him underwater, prompting Client to grab the boy in self-defense. Despite the circumstances, Client was arrested for Battery Strangulation and Child Abuse. We submitted a sworn affidavit from his daughter, confirming the self-defense account, and the State dismissed all charges.

After the dismissal, Client hired us to expunge the false accusation. The alleged “victim’s” mother objected and testified against the expunction, but Attorney Zahra Umansky successfully persuaded the Court to grant it, clearing Client’s name completely.
